Schroders announced on November 4 that it is issuing tokenized shares of its International Selection Fund Emerging Market Bonds feeder fund on the Solana blockchain, in partnership with infrastructure provider Centrifuge. The move represents the asset manager’s first Solana‑based product and expands its tokenization efforts beyond a previously approved money‑market share class.

Partnership structure and investor exposure

According to CoinCentral, Centrifuge will create and manage the blockchain‑based shares, while investors receive tokens that represent a proportional interest in the feeder fund rather than direct ownership of the underlying sovereign and corporate bonds. The feeder fund itself invests in Schroders’ long‑standing emerging‑markets bond portfolio, which the firm has managed for more than five decades with a team of over 40 specialists.

Strategic context for tokenized real‑world assets

The launch arrives as Solana’s tokenized real‑world asset (RWA) market reached roughly $5.12 billion in November, according to data from RWA.xyz. Schroders’ entry follows its August approval in Ireland for a tokenized share class of a U.S. dollar money‑market fund, known as Schroders Onchain Active Returns. The new bond offering adds credit‑risk exposure, meaning performance will be tied to interest rates, borrower credit quality and local currency movements.

Industry momentum and comparable initiatives

Centrifuge is also working with New York Life Investment Management on a high‑yield corporate bond strategy on Solana, and other firms such as Securitize have recently added tokenized U.S. stocks to the same blockchain. Federated Hermes announced plans to issue its first tokenized fund shares in early 2027, while the DTCC’s new tokenization service, launched in October, has already attracted interest from JPMorgan, Citi and Fidelity.

What to watch next

Key indicators to monitor include subscription volume for Schroders’ tokenized shares, regulatory feedback on the Solana RWA framework, and whether additional asset classes—such as equities or alternative credit—will follow the same tokenization pathway on Solana.
